It all began innocently enough as a hobby. In the late ‘70’s I was haunting gun shows looking for single shot rifles to add to my collection. What I could afford usually needed repair. Since making good parts requires good tooling I would make the part I needed and then make a few extra and sell them to buy the next project. In 1981 I started publishing a price list of parts for Ballard’s, Hepburns, 44 Stevens and Winchester single shots and advertising in the ASSRA News. By 1990, with my "day job" looking very shaky, I bought the Hoch action from Richard Hoch, retooled it and started making rifles full time. The market for the Hoch action (which we sold in ‘96) was rather limited so in the fall of ‘93 we started tooling for the Highwall. The first Highwall rifle shipped in September of ‘94. We now have five employees, two CNC mills, a cranky old shaper that we use for the extractor cut in the receiver and a list of friends (customers) that extends around the world.
